There was a time when every email you received, you read… ‘spam’ was not a term because there was no need for it, and I don’t know about you but for me, it was around 1998 in Boston Massachusetts that I got my first spam email.
A few years later, abuse of your personal data (typically offered unconditionally by the proprietor…YOU!) led to the creation of the term ‘Spam email’ and later on to the creation of a Spam folder in google email. So, I ask you… what is it about Spam email that we hate so much? Simple… it is unwanted, uninvited, deliberately attempting to lure us towards a bad decision, and above all, it is an Attack: an external unknown source aiming to invade our most personal space of outgoing communication and incoming information.
Do you know actual people who are just like that? ‘Spam people’…? Even if you say that you don’t, truth is…you do but you haven’t thought about it thoroughly. Spam people exist everywhere and can get in touch with you anytime because your filters are not selective enough. But don’t think we are talking about some malevolent strangers just yet. It could be your best friend, boyfriend or girlfriend, a beloved relative or a co-worker you seem to spend a lot of time with.
Spam people are far more dangerous than spam email: they are actually invited by you and constantly welcomed to stay instead of being ‘deleted’. You willingly accept them into your life and incorporate them into your daily ecosystem because of certain deep psychological reasons you consciously ignore… The reality of the situation, however, will soon signify that they are a complete waste of Time, Energy, Emotions and Resources. Is there anything left that could be more important?
Once a top performer realizes this, he/she is confronted with the obvious question: ‘Why am I doing it? Only you Can, Should and Must answer that question. The final answer will be INFALLIBLE, meaning that it cannot be wrong. How do we know that for sure? Because once you decide to dig that deep, you rarely go wrong!
The practical response to the issue is entirely up to you. All that anybody could demand from you is that you acknowledge its importance.
