Most people contemplating the next ‘Big Thing’ in terms of business disruption, fail to acknowledge the most simple of facts: your future product and the quality characterizing it, should be the least of your worries.
Even if you manage to manufacture and produce something unique, special and irresistible, you still have to figure out ways to put it in front of your potential customer’s eyes. After that, you have to maintain their (already severely limited) attention span, and finally, you have to convince (or force them) to a Decision. It all sounds grim, pessimistic and competitive…
Nevertheless, if you initiate the process from a totally different angle, you may be surprised by the results, the speed of that process and the easiness with which you will reach your goals. The only thing you need to do, is to answer a two-folded question: who are YOU for requesting attention for Anything, and HOW are you presenting your case. Once those two questions are adequately answered, you can sell sand in the desert or water in the ocean.
Those (usually unnecessary) critical thinkers, asking themselves ‘is that actually moral or even proper?’, should also answer the following question: A man or woman, a person You deem (for some personal reason of yours) NOT worthy, comes to your doorstep and offers you a brilliant and useful solution. Nevertheless, he or she is unconvincing, unattractive, and uncertain… On top of that, the presentation is so uninformed and irrelevant, that you feel shocked. Would you buy that product or service, even if it was beneficial to you in some huge way?
Let me answer that one for you: you wouldn’t! And you wouldn’t because you would have no time left to give! You see, your time is consumed (whether it is real time or mental time) by utterly convincing, attractive and confident individuals, organizations and other entities, who suck up your time and money, as you remain in lethargy.
95% of the time, you don’t even realize it. And the rest, you are wondering why you gave into this or that deal (or fraud) and how this or that scheme is legally and politically allowed. No law or policy can protect you when you go through life ‘sleepwalking’, but there are good news nevertheless: Once you decide to flip sides and be on the active market as a seller, you have serious chances once you develop yourself and the way you present your most precious asset: Yourself!
The secret?… Deceive nobody, or your fame will be damaged. Bend no corners or others will feel entitled to bend corners with you. Play straight, and give no entitlement to others to play their cards in a false way. Act as most super-successful individuals have done throughout history, and reap the rewards. It is a faster, more effective, and far more beneficial a way, than seeking the next major breakthrough to no avail, as you choose to remain your same old self…
Above all, you will be doing some good for the world, as you keep developing your product through the honest eyes of your customers. Study the feedback, make improvements, ask yourself why is your offering relevant, and above all, honor the people who honored you with their attention, feelings, and money.
Honesty, confidence, knowledge, and conviction are the most basic prerequisites for the beginning of such a journey.
