‘As soon as I have all the information, I will let you know’… this is both what we have all heard AND said at various stages in our careers. And it is a lie, for two reasons:
First, when you really feel compelled to commit and seriously consider that commitment, you do not need much time to make that call. And second, the point when you can have ALL the information does not exist…
I have discussed various notions of time-management and resources-management in my 5 books, but sometimes I think there is nothing more important than this lesson: by the time you have all your facts right (based on YOUR fixed list and not on the actual constantly changing facts), it is usually too late. Everything changes, constantly… and that is a fact as ancient as Greece. Collecting reports, supposedly minimizing risk by assessing data, making late-night phone calls to ‘trusted’ insiders, none of that will change a thing. You remain insecure, and you will either not attempt that attempt, or you will go for it during THE most unfavorable moment, as it is usually the case. Or isn’t it?
You know what…Take that leap now. If you are strong enough, nothing bad can happen. It will either be a success or a valuable lesson as part of that stage (moment) in your personal development. How can somebody become so strong? I have researched, practiced, and written about it extensively… Do Your research and practice hard. Once you discover the truth, you should share, if you ask me. It could be through writing, for example…
Point is, you will never be the same again when you owe the larger part of your success and happiness to difficult decisions you initiated first. Strength, Leadership, Empathy, accurate Risk comprehension, Chronoceptive Increase, and an additional element unknown to most people (I call it ‘The 4th Quality’), will owe their appearance in your life to those tough decisions, and you will owe a huge debt and a big thanks to none other than yourself.
