Growing up in the midst of Athenian intelligentsia, by a self-made entrepreneur businessman (father) and a University graduate of Literature, Philosophy, Acting and Journalism (mother), in the daily company of Greece’s leading professors, poets, authors, and critics, it may come as no surprise that K. Athaanasakos contributed his first magazine article for a highly specialised publication at the age of 11. In the following years, he would help esteemed conductors shape their publicity texts, assist top-level professionals with their presentations and allow University professors to use his unpublished content as material for their lectures.
The early writing style and thought process of Athanasakos was heavily influenced by philosopher and professor Christos Yannaras (The Freedom of Morality, New York SVS Press 1984), by columnist and writer of 61 books Nikos Dimou (‘On the Unhappiness of Being Greek’ 1975) and of Renos Apostolidis, philologist and literary critic (Pyramid 67 1950). Athanasakos had the pleasure to meet and discuss a variety of issues with all three gentlemen during very different periods of his life.
His professors later on, conductor Benjamin Zander (‘The Art of Possibility’ 2000) and legendary pianist Russell Sherman (‘Piano Pieces’ 1996) where also important influences, as was James A. Klein, Oxford and Harvard University alumnus who proved a highly critical voice in Athanasakos’s writings during his early 20’s.
Since that time, Athanasakos has been the author of numerous academic papers (from the ‘Masonic Elements in the Operas of W.A.Mozart’, to ‘Stress and Performance Anxiety’, to ‘Issues on Historical Performance Practice’), and the writer of impressive program-notes and analysis provided during his concerts. His lectures, equally insightful and instructive have been presented repeatedly at universities and academies, foundations, companies, festivals, conferences and in the Media, focusing especially on the younger generation of future leaders and professionals.
His first book, of a series of books related to the Expansion of one’s Abilities, is called ‘The Ecosystem of Success: 10 x 10 Evolution Method for the New You’.
